Islam is extremely violent. It does not have any space for discussion, debate or adjustments.

You know ! Arab world was very valiant compared to this present world. If they want to kill other people it might have happened long back. So dont blame a religion or community or race.

Fundamentalism means not having to think, it is about being essentially unconscious and giving up responsibility to an (interpreter/) interpretation of a holy text. Christian, Muslim, Hindi - fundamentalism is so similar, violent and vigorously intolerant that all of these religions at the point of the near-psychotic extremity of a fundamentalist faith tend to look (and act) very similar to one another. In their extreme desire to be unique they assume a blandly repetitious demeanour of hatred and insecurity.
When one is so adamant to define one’s faith in such intolerant terms - it merely comes across as an essential insecurity about faith. Someone who is secure and totally self-confident in their faith will not need to impose it upon others, will not need to fear the faith that may differ from theirs (including other interpretations of their own faith)...
If someone is secure in their faith, whatever it may be - why should they worry what another may say ? Perhaps people are attaching their general psychological insecurity to a perceived threat to the faith to which they subscribe ? This relates to all faiths, not just the one mentioned in the title of this webpage...

The thing is, every religion goes through this stage...the one where they either think people of color are cursed, or women are witches etc.
However, the concern I have is that none of these incidents were backed up by the religion entirely, only by religious clerics who play god, as we have discussed on ’To believe or not to....”
Islam is quite violent as a religion, and history proves that the beginning and spread of the religion were bloody and intolerant. However, I won’t point it out as what is exactly ’wrong’ with the religion or its followers...
It’s a much deeper issue, and a much more political one too.

i think islam is a tolerant religion for those having a hidden agenda jihad is being used as a fig leaf a lame excuse same was the case in india when widows were murdered in the name of chastity
mass murder of the christians by hardcore hard core hindu goons in the name of religion has no religious sanction
lord ram never told any one to demolish babri mosque if at all as a practicing hindu i know that it says that there can be many ways to reach god so branding\denouncing a particular religion for the acts of some brain washed fanatics will be wrong just to day there was a news report the 1\3 of pakistani population has denounced the acts committed in the name of jihad what other proof do we need

Sir
Dont get mistaken secularism for a mixture of dinner and filth. Tolerating is different and a single person practicing all religions means its nothing n no use either spiritually or personally. Its not my personal openion but for any simple depth.

Its got nothing to do with any religion; the real problem is the fanatic group of people (irrespective of their religion) who go out of their way to point out and highlight the flaws in other religions (sometimes the flaws are nothing else but a misinterpretation due to low availability of grey matter in the skull of the interpreter).
Take this post for instance; Gibson, I believe is not a Muslim, but he took so much pain to just post this two liner, which leads to a page that translates into nothing else but confusion.
I tried my best but failed to notice anything in this two liner (or that parent post for that matter) that would serve humanity in any way. In fact, a DIY post on how to make a potty for your old grandpa would have been 100 times better.
Now, its on us people to decide what’s wrong with whom!

i think religion is a private matter of an individual society can simply provide a forum for the like minded persons to come together
in sanskrit it means to discover one’s inner self(to reunite with one’s own self to discover one’s true nature )each patient responds to a different medicine based on his constitution , disease or surroundings
i do not say religion is a medicine but a prop to find peace to maintain sanity a mobile shrink, rituals simply add to flavor just like the color of the coach the padding or the chamber decor

It’s time for the Islamic scholars to come up with realistic and better interpretation of Islamic laws. One really cannot ignore the fact the dangerous elements within Islamic world are proving to be a great threat for the whole world. There are many other minor religions in world. Why aren’t their followers so aggressive in nature in the name of defending the cause of religion ? Why the assumed threats to the rise of Islam makes the Muslims go berserk ?

Hello,
just a word to say that the issue posed by the article has nothing to do with Europe or America or anyone/thing else.
It has to do with the Muslim religion itself.
For me, a westerner trying to understand Muslim thinking, all this polemical blame-giving thought is just a boring distraction from the central question. The Coran existed long before Europe and the USA. If there are problems with Coranical thought, fix them. If not, don’t.
But don’t blame the current questioning of how to interpret the Coran on the West. It’s avoiding the issue and finding fall-guys.
No-one needs it...
Respect to you all

@ Michael C ,
You are absolutely correct. The Muslim world should take all the steps to remove the misconceptions .Or else, the Islamic bomb in the form of Islamic terrorism is surely going to make the life hellish for all of us. There is no more time left for the Muslim clerics to be in wait and watch situation. Someone has rightly asked that why Muslims alone are painted in wrong colours after every blasts? What has made them so dangerous in the eyes of other communities (read common man)?
There is no point in avoiding such crucial considerations .Nor there is any merit in suppressing such critical voices by silencing them forever via aggressive gestures. If a cartoon or for that matter The Satanic Verses can lead to such aggressive protests what has prevented them from being united in addressing such critical issues in an honest way ?

What is wrong with US and Europe they made crusades? They made Africans slaves? They have and had the perfect book and they have the perfected law by Jesus.
Even they have Bible they worshipped idols such as mother Mary in case of Catholics and their churches are all in Satans influence.
What is wrong with you ? There is a saying in Telugu that a seed which has black colour in its bottom cant understand that its black.
So Sir without much argument you know one thing. You US and Europe know all things . Isnt it? So you be Christ like. Give jobs to those blacks in your country and treat Asian employees with consideration. Dont wage wars.

Wrong. The problems confronting Muslim thought need to be addressed by Muslims, according to Muslim thought.
The west has nothing to do with it.
Anything else is just a vulgar political debate which avoids the issues and finds people to blame for (and I’m not saying there are any) shortbeings.
C’mon, get real.
